the beauty of the area as well as the sense of joy &
accomplishment we all felt as we were wrapping up the last
few miles of our amazing trip. It also shows how much
the group had bonded. On the last day of our ride, guides
Veronika and Adrian invited us to try out a new, alternate
route up to the monastery in the picture. We were all in, and
what a choice! It was a little challenging but turned out to be
one of the best rides of the trip. Great Explorations had
organized a tour and lovely lunch at the monastery perched
on top of the hill in the background, with wonderful views
of the Danube & Krems valley. This was taken right after
that as we coasted the last few miles of the trip back down to
Weissenkirchen. Dawn had the inspiration for the photo
to commemorate the day, the trip and the group, and to
be candid, we all handed our cameras to our guide Veronika
who actually snapped the shot and froze
the happy moment for us all."

Cesky-Krumlov, we were still just blown
away by the beautiful countryside and
perfect cycling. It felt like the entire
country was our private bike path
through scenery out of a cycling fantasy.
As my wife, Dawn, & I passed this enormous
stack of hay bales, we thought it would
be cool for a quick photo. The next thing
you know the entire group joined in and
were hamming it up. It was fun because
it was so spontaneous, and a unique shot.

anniversary and cycle with Great Explorations
from Prague to Vienna. We had a beautiful afternoon ride
from Prague to Ceske Budejovice, enroute to Cesky Krumlov.
The ride took us across a beautiful farming plateau
with working horses, deer and tidy quaint farm homes.
Veronika, Niko, and Robbin led us along quiet roads with
little vehicle traffic. Rounding a corner, this gentleman
was sitting watching the world… and the stream
of bikes pass by. I couldn’t resist and stopped and sat
with him for a few minutes. Then asked if I could take
his picture. I think you can tell from the grin
that he was ok with it. A great country,
friendly people and a fantastic trip."

Photo Contest
Rules
When you embark on your trip with Great Explorations, we’d like to encourage you to capture some of the special moments along the way. We’ll reward you with a chance to win up to $1,500 trip credit ($500 per category) towards any trip that Great Explorations offers.
You may submit up to 5 photos per category, per trip before December 31st of the year you travel with us. We have 3 categories: Faces, Places & Moments, as explained below. If your photo is selected, we will email you! We thank everyone for participating in our Photo Contest.
Faces Category
It might be a French winemaker swirling a glass of hi swine before tasting in Burgundy, elderly ladies sitting in a square in an Italian village, or a woman selling boat trips in Croatia… We love to see some emotions on the Faces photographs.
Places Category
Whether in the magnificent scenery of the Canadian Rockies, viewing a monastery on a lake in Czech Republic on our Prague to Vienna trip, or Napa Valley vineyards at first light… Photographs that capture the beauty of a place are what will win here.
Moments Category
There is no doubt that your trip will include magical moments throughout. It could be getting a shave in Ostuni, Italy; listening to a storyteller in Ireland; dancing to Pizica music in Puglia, Italy… This category tends to be our favorite!
