Enjoy an evening in the city strolling the waterfront and choose from many superb restaurants. Stay at 66 Guldsmeden, a boho hideaway tucked in the Montmartre district. Ride Distance: 34km; 120m or 47km; 100m

Depart Copenhagen by train for the island of Fyn (Funen) in the peninsula of Hindsholm. We cycle through a idyllic region filled with castles. Have lunch in the port city of Kerteminde and then continue back to Odense, birthplace of Hans Christian Anderson. Visit the new museum dedicated to him, stroll the town and enjoy dinner at one of the many excellent restaurants. Sty at the 4-star Hotel Knudens Gaard.  Ride Distance: 46km; 200m

Day 3

Odense to Svendborg

Depart Odense embarking on a scenic castle route. Cycle through the charming town of Ringe to Edeskov castle, one of Europe’s best preserved Renaissance water castles, dating to 1554. Stop at Broholm Castle, an impressive 12th-century fortress surrounded by lush rolling hills. Delve into an absorbing journey through Denmark’s centuries-old history, discovering tales of the kings, queens, and the Ulfeldt, Skeel, and Sehested family sagas associated with this storied castle.

Ride into Svendborg, a delightful town blending maritime tradition with an old-world ambiance. Take leisurely moments to explore artisan shops and quaint cafés before reaching your accommodation in the center of Svendborg. Ride Distance: 44km; 200m* or 75km; 375m. *with train transfer from Odense to Kvaerndrup

Day 4

After a delicious breakfast, embark on a cycling journey from Svendborg into the Danish archipelago. Marvel at the verdant woodlands and untamed coastal beauty of Tåsinge island, passing by castles and picturesque rural villages. Visit Troense, a charming sea-side village adorned with 18th-century half-timbered houses.

Enjoy lunch at Valdemars Slot, a 13th-century castle, offering breathtaking views of Svendborg Sound and the South Fyn Archipelago. On clear days, the vistas extend as far as Kiel in Northern Germany. For those wanting a longer ride, continue to enchanting Langaland Island, providing a picturesque glimpse into Denmark’s historical nobility era. Ride Distance: 40km; 240m or 70km; 345m

Day 5

Svendborg to Faaborg

Today, embark on a ferry journey to Ærø Island. Ærøskøbing, with its cobblestone lanes, half-timbered houses is renowned as the best-preserved eighteenth-century town in Denmark.

It’s known as the fairytale island, considered to be one of the most beautiful in the country, with a laid-back vibe that has undergone a youthful renaissance in recent years with a push towards organic farming, and artisans moving in to produce beer, whisky, soaps and all kinds of art, and even hand-rolled cigars.

Before departing the island, explore the Vester Mill, a thatched windmill dating back to the 1800s. From the charming portside town of Soby, board a ferry to return to Fyn and the town of Faaborg.   Ride Distance: 55km; 375m

Day 6

From Faaborg, ride a route that is popular with locals through the ‘South Funen Alps’, but even the highest point in Funen is only at 128m – they call this the Queen’s View and it does provide a magnificent view. Ride past  Sandholt Slot (castle) and then back in Faaborg, stroll the quaint streets before another fabulous dinner. Ride Distance: 51km; 400m
