Between Seville and Grenada lies a region filled with pueblos blancos (white villages) including Zahara de la Sierra, Setenil de las Bodegas, Ronda and others. Stay in luxury at hotels in Seville, Ronda, La Bobadilla and in Grenada with 6 full days of cycling. It’s a hilly, yet scenic region and in spring and fall, has ideal temperatures and a festive atmosphere. You’ll dine at fabulous restaurants, tour and taste at bodegas, enjoy Flamenco and get to know some locals that will offer a warm welcome. Bienvenido a Andalucia.

Straight Talk:

Andalucia is hilly and does not have as many secondary roads as in other countries we operate trips in, so there is inevitably more traffic but still moderate on the roads we choose. Because of the distance between Seville and Grenada and between hotels, there are strategic shuttles on this trip. Because the trip starts from Seville and finishes in Grenada, we include your hotel in each of these; should you want to spend additional days in either, we are happy to book that and add to your invoice.

Day 1

Arrive to Seville. We meet up at 2pm at our hotel and enjoy a walking tour of the city, followed by a welcome wine reception and dinner. Flamenco anyone? We know just the spot.

Day 2

We start the day with a shuttle (1h20) to the pueblo blanco village of Zahara de la Sierra, perched above the El Gastor reservoir. Our ride  boasts views of the Sierra de Grazalema mountain range and an invigorating climb reaches Ronda and our hotel, the Reina Victoria Hotel, located  beside the El Tajo Gorge. Stroll through the atmospheric town before dinner at a favourite restaurant in the historic center. Ride Distance: 34km; 780m or 50km; 1520m

Day 3

Today you’ll discover more of the white villages that dot the countryside around Ronda. Setenil de las Bodegas is perhaps the most charming of the pueblos blancos, built into the cliffs above the rio Trejo. There is also an option to ride south to the village of Juzcar, uniquely painted blue (rather than white, for a Smurf movie!), For wine aficionados, we’ll tour (and taste) at the bodega of Descalzos Viejos, a wine estate started in the 1500’s. This is an OYO night for dinner and there are lots of great restaurants to choose between. Ride Distance: 45km; 950m Add-on loop: 46km; 1150m

Day 4

Ronda to Loja

We will depart Ronda east along a road through the Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park. Swoop downhill to the village of El Burgo and then to the renowned town of El Chorro, a climbing and hiking mecca. Take a walk along the famous Caminito del Rey through a dramatic gorge before shuttling (45 min) to La Bobadilla Hotel and it’s 1,000 acre private estate. Go for a swim (there are three pools to choose between), spa or relax. We will dine at the El Cortijo Restaurant featuring local and regional cuisine. Ride Distance: 60km; 965m

Day 5

Ride from the hotel today north towards the Embalse de Iznajar reservoir; you’ll get a great view of the town of the white village of Iznajar and its castle (the add-on ride goes there).  Ride through fields of olive groves and  dramatic countryside with lunch along the way. Back at Bobodilla, we will enjoy a delicious meal at the one-star La Finca restaurant. Ride Distance: 51km; 865m or 67km; 1350m

Day 6

Loja to Granada

From La Bobadilla it is on to Grenada and as you ride east you’ll see the Sierra Nevada mountains behind the fantastic city of Granada. We’ll ride into the city on a bike path next to the Genil River and then to the historic center, where we’ll stay at the recently renovated 5-star Palacio Gran Via. Enjoy an afternoon walking tour to the Alhambra with expert guide and then dinner at a renowned restaurant to celebrate. Ride  Distance: 40km; 380m or 80km; 700m
