R.E.M. Event Management Inc. was founded to create and manage events, with a specialization in cycling (our passion). Some of the events we have initiated or been hired to manage raise awareness or funds for other causes (several million dollars have been raised through events that we have managed and or been hired to lead). Our expertise ranges from marketing through to operations in both local, national and international events.
Castlegar to Beaverdel
The first stage begins in the historic village of Castlegar, located at the confluence of the Columbia and Kootenay Rivers. We’ll visit the turn-of-the-century towns of Grand Forks, Greenwood, Rock Creek with some wilderness backcountry in between.
This event will support TheBigWild.org to help raise awareness and funding for Canada’s wild places.
This tour incorporates the classic Kettle Valley line with overnights at McCulloch Lake, Chute Lake, West Summerland, Chain Lake and Princeton. We’ll average 55 km (34 miles) per day with highlights to include Myra Canyon and wine sampling in the Okanagan region of British Columbia’s interior.
*The July tour will donate $50 per participant to the Great Trail (Trans-Canada Trail).
For a short get-a-way from the city, this section of the trail makes for an ideal sampler (or finisher if you have done the other stages)! Our ride starts in Princeton, a mining town with restored turn of the century buildings; we follow the verdant Tulameen River Valley, stopping at idyllic Otter Lake to camp. On the next evening, we’ll overnight on Coquihalla Lakes. Sunday, we’ll ride downhill through perhaps the most spectacular section of all, the Coquihalla canyon and Othello tunnels through to Hope.
The sunshine coast is a short (and scenic!) ferry ride from Vancouver. Our first day’s ride will begin from Halfmoon Bay, only 45 minutes north of the Langdale ferry terminal;utilizing a combination of existing trail systems, deactivated forestry roads and single track trail, our route will take us (35 km-elevation gain of 700m) to Porpoise Bay. Sunday, the ride will continue south out of Porpoise Bay (45 km -elevation gain is 1300 m) across Mt. Elphinstone, to Langdale and a finish-line celebration.
