What’s appealing about this trip, is you are riding from one of Europe’s great cities to Belgium’s most charming. The majority of the riding is on dedicated bike paths, much of it along canals and includes some dramatic coastline and sublime beaches.

Just a short ferry ride away from Vancouver, BC, the Canadian Gulf Islands feel a world apart, with the dryest climate in BC and a great selection of roads to ride and trails to hike (and ocean to paddle). It’s the quintessential multi-sport destination and a much improved cultural scene over years past.

Having just experienced this trip in 2024, each of these towns offers an ideal slice of east coast charm and sites with really nice riding, low traffic and some real east coast characters.

For a taste of Europe, visiting this enchanting corner of Quebec offers a mix of paved and gravel roads that link the cities of Magog, Stanstead and North Hatley, with a chance to stay at Manoir Hovey, a Relais & Chateau property. A popular time to visit is in the fall, when the maples are at their most colourful.

After a hiatus for covid, we ran this trip again in 2024. It’s very similar to a trip B&R runs using some of the same hotels, but at a fraction of the price. We include two nights in Valparaiso, the city of mural art that should be on everyone’s list of places to experience.

We are the only tour operator offering luxurious small yacht itineraries in Dalmatia and since we began offering these, it has been one of our most popular trips. Our most popular yacht sleeps 18 in 9 berths with a crew of 4 to take care of you. With our private yacht, we are able to access the best riding on the islands. Sublime.

We introduced this trip in 2024 and we think we nailed it. Our itinerary starts from Odense, Fyn and spends two nights in each of Faaborg and Svendborg also. There are castles everywhere in Fyn and a magical chain of islands off the south coast that we explore by bike. Much of the riding is on bike paths and the cycling infrastructure is superb. It’s our favourite new trip.

For wine drinkers or anyone fascinated by wine, this trip visits and stays in villages that are synonymous with great wines including Gevrey-Chambertin, Beaune and Puligny-Montrachet. Degustations (often still free in this region) are everywhere along the routes – we bike right through world-famous vineyards and past pretty chateaux.

It’s a little harder to reach but worth the effort, as this region of France has more plus beaux villages en France than any other region. There are hundreds (perhaps thousands) of castles, and the lush river valleys of the Dordogne and Vezere are picture-perfect.

The great appeal of the Loire Valley are the castles including Chenonceau and Azay-le-Rideau, two of our favourites. You can even sleep in castles, such as Domaine Tortiniere. Why not treat yourself like royalty (for at least a week)?

It was the first trip we ever offered in France and still one of our most popular. It’s easy to reach (2h20 from Paris), has an appealing climate, cultural sites galore, charming villages and outstanding hotels and hospitality AND the cycling is superb. Enough said.

The northwest region of Ireland, including Ennis, Doolin, Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands, Cashel & Clifden is so unique and special the whole area should be a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I may be biased (Irish heritage) but there can’t be another place like this anywhere. If you like music, get yourself into a pub at any hour, sip on a pint of Guinness and take in the show. Did we mention the cycling is fantastic?

This was our first trip in Italy and still our best, for scenery, cycling, food and wine (and lovely hotels). From Siena to Castellina in Chianti, Monterrigioni, Toiano, Asciano, Pienza, Montepulciano each of these towns are charmingly perfect. It should be on every bucket list.

For reasons that you will only know if you visit, the heel of the boot of Italy is enjoying a renaissance of sorts, attracting those in the know to a region that feels authentic and has so much to offer. It’s a wee bit gritty (owing to its past) but the beauty is ever-present and with the miles of coastline, superb beaches, lovely masseria-style accommodation, it’s easy to see why this is one of our most popular trips in Europe. Go now before the secret is out.

Japan is currently the hot destination for any kind of travel, but we think it is the quintessential destination for cycling. We introduced our Noto Peninsula trip in 2019 to great acclaim but after the region experienced an earthquake, we’re hopeful it will re-open in 2026. Until then, we are operating our Kyoto to Kaga itinerary which has many of the same attributes. There is a narrow window for travel here: May and October are best.

This is our newest trip and includes the Baltic countries of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. Starting from Vilnius, Lithuania, we’ll ride towards the Baltic Sea with overnights in Kaunas & Klaipeda; in Latvia overnight in Riga and Sigulda before crossing into Estonia and staying in Parnu on the Gulf of Riga, and finally Tallinn, Estonia’s charming capital and cultural hub.

Perhaps our most exotic trip, our 10-day itinerary covers a great part of Morocco from the Sahara to the mountains, the coast at Essouira and finishing in Marrakesh. It never fails to impress people partly due to our local guide who is superb. Stay in fantastic riads and unique and luxurious lodgings as you cycle this region.

The South Island of New Zealand is arguably the world’s most beautiful hiking destination and for good reason; the network of trails through mesmerizing scenery is unparalleled. Imagine snow-capped peaks, beautiful pristine lakes, lush valleys, cascading waterfalls, fjords and more.

From Moorish villages, Roman structures and Portuguese kings, this region oozes big history, but Alentejo also offers incredible natural treasures. Starting from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Evora, and staying in Estremoz, Crato and Marvao will be memorable. The hotels on this trip are mostly luxurious posadas, historic properties with superb amenities. Enjoy.

Czech Republic and Southern Bohemia are appealing on so many levels. Starting from Tabor with overnight stays there and in Cesky-Krumlov (our vote for the most beautiful city in Europe), before transferring to Austria and the Danube River, where riverside paths take you through Maria Taferl and the wine region of the Wachau to Weissenkirchen and Durnstein. Bookend this trip with stays in Prague and Vienna and you’ve got the perfect trip.

We love riding from country to country because the trip takes on the feeling of a journey, rather than a vacation. Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia is a very vibrant and fun city to start this trip and Bled, with its idyllic monastery in the middle of the lake is postcard pretty. Climb Vrsic Pass at 1300’ and then enjoy a very long downhill ride to Bovec, the adventure capital before continuing on to Cividale, which will roll off the tongue after a glass or two of the local wine. You can reach Venice easily from here should you wish.

The coast of Spain north of Barcelona is known as Costa Brava (Brave Coast) and has much to offer including stunning scenery, charming villages, great food and wine and very, very good cycling. When we asked our guides where in the world to hold our annual guide gathering, Catalonia was an obvious choice. If, like our guides, you love road cycling, lots of pros live and train here for the riding and the food and wine.

This is one of our newer trips and a region we long wanted to include. It’s another mecca for road cycling; actually it is THE mecca for road cycling in Europe with some of the best riding in the world (3 of the best rides I have ever done). Each of the Luxe hotels we use are exquisite (Posada Terra Santa in Palma; Hotel Esplendido in Port de Soller and Hotel Illa d’Or in Pollenca).

The ‘Turquoise Coast’ from Bodrum to Antalya is an ‘under the radar’ tour that has very good cycling and stops in exotic and interesting cities including Dalyan (ancient tombs and temples and one of the most beautiful beaches in the country); Gocek (as cool as St. Tropez, without the attitude); Kalkan and Kas bookending a spectacular road ride; and Olympos, another perfect beach above ancient ruins that invite exploration. This trip should be on every bucket list of great bike journeys.

We save perhaps the best for last and a trip we have re-designed for 2025 to include two beach stays in remarkable settings. This trip has always been popular for our travellers and now will be more so as we raise the bar with a stay at Azerai Ke Ga Bay, our new favourite hotel in Vietnam. Can you imagine a better place to finish your trip?
