“Loved the scenery and the cycling routes chosen, especially the one where we finished with the private wine tasting. I really enjoyed the group also - oh what fun!”

Split, Brac & Hvar

Imagine the Mediterranean the way it used to be, in a country that has all the essential elements for the perfect cycling vacation- quiet roads, an abundance of historical sites and now, wonderful hotels and restaurants to enjoy.

This trip begins in Split which has an international airport and frequent flights from Zagreb. After one night discovering the secrets of this historical city, you will cruise to the island of Brac, the largest of the Dalmatian islands and notable for the karst rock, a supple white stone that sculptors have used for centuries here. You’ll be based in Pastira, a quaint village with excellent beaches and a comfortable 4-star hotel with swimming pool and all amenities.

After two days exploring Brac, you’ll cruise to the island of Hvar, perhaps the most interesting of the Dalmatian islands. Designed and built by Venetians, Hvar feels distinctly Italian; Hvar is becoming the destination of choice for yacht owners (Barry Dillar’s 103m vessel was in the harbour on our last visit), and cyclists, eager to discover new destinations with lots to see and do. You’ll have three days in Hvar, with enough time to cycle the island’s routes. There are also options for moderate hikes and, if you choose to relax at the hotel’s pool or spa facilities, this is the perfect place to do so.

Itinerary

                                            Getting there:
Split - Our trip begins in the historical city of Split which can be reached by flights from many European cities. You can check in anytime after 2:00.

Note: If you wish to visit Dubrovnik prior to or after the tour, we offer a two day extension. See below ‘What is included’ for details.

DAY 1:
Split – Split boasts a Roman palace in its center, and a labyrinthe of cobblestone streets filled with cafes and restaurants. Our hotel, the luxurious Meridienne Hotel boasts an infinity pool and exquisite location with private beach. We’ll meet at 4:00 for a walking tour of Split and then at 7:00 for our formal welcome reception and dinner.

DAY 2:
Bol- We’ll start the day with a walking tour to visit to the historical center of Split before boarding the ferry at 11:00 am; the cruise to Brac will take just under 1 hour. On arrival, we’ll fit bikes and cycle to lunch at a beach-side restaurant in Supetar. Afterwards, we’ll cycle along beautiful roads to Bol where you’ll have a chance to enjoy the iconoclastic beaches of the Golden Cape.

DAY 3:
Bol- Next day, ride a loop route visiting Pucisca, with its stone cutting school and Skrip, the oldest settlement on the island. The island of Brac is covered in olive and fig trees and charming village harbours dot the coast. Our hotel in Bol is the luxurious Elaphusa 4-star hotel.

DAY 4:

Hvar– We’ll cruise across to the island to Hvar, arriving to the charming village of Jelsa and then riding to Hvar Town and the Podstine Hotel. Hvar town has been compared to Cannes, where yachts line the harbor and well-preserved Venetian buildings, a hill-top castle and Europe’s oldest theatre make for a charming town. The Podstine Hotel is one of Hvar’s best, with swimming pool, and excellent restaurant.

DAY 5:
Hvar– From Hvar town, we suggest a loop ride to Stari Grad, Jelsa and Vrboska. In Jelsa, there is a museum that can be visited that is the former residence of the famous poet, Petar Hektorovic. You can either cycle back to Hvar or be transferred after lunch. Afternoon options include kayaking to the Pakleni Islands or exploring the town of Hvar. For dinner, we’ll enjoy a cooking course with a local chef at a private house near the hotel.

DAY 6:
Hvar– We have arranged for a morning walk with a wonderful guide today, where you’ll learn about the fascinating history of this town and visit its monuments. Afterwards, cycle along the coast to Milna, hike up to the Venetian citadel, or relax and enjoy the comforts of the hotel.

DAY 7: Transfer to Split (ferry times are at 7:45 and 11:30& travel time is 1hr45) for onward travel.
